Sophia Li · Principal Lawyer

Sophia Li is the founder and principal lawyer of Yu Sheng Law Firm, and a lawyer qualified in both Canada and China. Born into a family of legal professionals, she has spent more than twenty years in the law, with a sure grasp of policy and a wealth of case experience. She still personally consults on and reviews the firm’s cases.

Background

Before building her cross-border practice, Sophia served with the procuratorate, the public prosecutor’s office, and in government. That experience shapes how she reads a file and anticipates the other side. Today she focuses on immigration litigation and complex matters, including mandamus and unreasonable delays, refusals and appeals, judicial review at the Federal Court, procedural-fairness responses, IRB hearings and misrepresentation allegations, alongside cross-border family law and company, contract and cross-border compliance work.

Yu Sheng brings together capable people across immigration, family, corporate, contract and cross-border compliance law. It is one of the very few firms in Canada where everyone, from the founding principal lawyer to every member of staff, is individually licensed in their own field.

The meaning of Yu Sheng

The firm’s motto, “Gong Yu Tan Guan, Qi Sheng Wei Lai,” comes from the Book of Han.
